One of the best parts about getting a new credit card is planning what to do with all of the rewards points you plan to earn. But, are you ready to take advantage of everything your new card has to offer?

If you want to maximize your benefits, you have to pay attention to all of the offers available to you. Here are some common offerings that can accelerate your points-earning capabilities right from the beginning.

Get the Signup Bonus

Many cards offer a bonus for making a certain amount in purchases within a specific amount of time.

For example, the JetBlue Plus card offers an incredible 30,000 bonus points with a value of around $450. All you have to do is spend at least $1,000 on eligible purchases in the first 90 days.

Along with those bonus points, you’ll also have access to:

• 6X points per dollar on qualified JetBlue Purchases

• 2X points per dollar at grocery stores and restaurants

• 1X points per dollar on all other purchases

And you get the bonus points on the purchases at the same time you qualify for the 30,000 point signup bonus. Spend that $1,000 on eligible JetBlue purchases, and you could earn 36,000 points in 90 days or less.

Other cards may offer cash back bonuses, such as the $100 rewards bonus after spending $500 in the first 90 days with the Barclaycard CashForward™ World MasterCard®. You’ll get the bonus plus another 1.5% cash back on every purchase.

You can also enjoy:

• No Annual Fee

• 0% Introductory APR for 15 Months on Balance Transfers

• Redeem Cashback for Cash in the Bank, Statement Credits or Gift Cards

This gives you a great way to ramp up the power of your cash back with just $500 in purchases.

Use the Online Shopping Bonuses

Does your card offer bonuses or savings for making purchases online? If so, you should use these options to their fullest.

Use Your Card as Much as Possible (But Pay if Off Immediately)

The biggest trick to generating rewards points quickly is by simply using your card. Instead of using a debit card for regular expenses, like utilities and groceries, pay those with your credit card instead.

Many cards offer points on every purchase, but some offer great deals for using them in specific ways.

Combine Forces

Some cards let you combine your points with other members of your household. For example, both the JetBlue Card and the JetBlue Plus Card allow families to pool their points. That means you can enjoy using your rewards more quickly, even if you have separate accounts.

Adding an authorized user to your card can also increase your points. If you are part of a married couple, consider getting an account together. That way, all of your spending can lead to rewards in the same program.

Working together has never been so simple, or so rewarding.
